PMU Brow Healing Stages: What Your Brows Actually Look Like Week by Week

You just had your eyebrow PMU done and your brows look incredible — and then a few days later, they look really dark. Or really faded. Or a little patchy. And you’re wondering: is this normal? Did something go wrong?

Take a breath. This is completely normal. Brow healing after PMU follows a very predictable process, and at Aya Seoul in Gangnam, we guide every client through what to expect so you’re never left worrying unnecessarily.

Here’s an honest week-by-week breakdown of what your brows will look like as they heal.

Days 1–3: Fresh and Bold

Right after your appointment, your brows will look noticeably bold. The color appears darker and more defined than the final healed result. There may be some minor redness around the brow area, which is a completely normal response to the treatment.

Some clients love how their brows look at this stage. Others find it a bit intense. Either way — what you see right now is not your final result.

What to do: Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid touching your brows unnecessarily, and follow the aftercare instructions provided.

Days 7–10: Flaking and Peeling Begins

This is the phase that surprises most first-time clients. Your brows will begin to flake and peel — and as they do, the color underneath may look significantly lighter or even patchy. This is not a sign that something went wrong. It’s simply the outer skin layer shedding as part of the healing process.

What not to do: Never pick or peel the skin manually. Removing flaking skin before it’s ready can pull pigment from beneath and affect your final result.

Weeks 2–3: The Ghost Brow Phase

This is the phase where clients most often panic — and truly, there is no need to. After flaking is complete, the brows can look extremely faint or almost washed out. This is commonly called the “ghost brow” phase, and it is a completely normal part of the healing cycle.

What’s happening beneath the surface is that the skin is regenerating and the pigment is settling into deeper layers. The color will return.

Weeks 4–6: The Color Returns

Gradually, your brows begin to resurface. The pigment shows through the healed skin, and the true color and definition becomes visible. This is when you’ll start to see your actual healed result — softer and more natural than the initial post-treatment look, but with beautiful balance and definition.

6–8 Weeks: Your Final Healed Result

By around six to eight weeks, your brows are fully healed and the result is stable. This is when Aya Seoul recommends coming in for your touch-up appointment, so we can assess how the pigment has settled and make any refinements needed.

Every skin type heals a little differently. Drier skin tends to retain pigment very well. Oilier skin may require a little more support at the touch-up stage. All of this is completely normal — and expected.
